You can change your newsletter settings and subscriptions in your profile.

Google analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized data about visitors to this website. We use this data to improve visitor experience, and to help us make the site better. Google Analytics records:

  • The website the visitor came from to get to this website;

  • The kind of computer they are using (Windows, Mac, etc. as well as information like screen resolution, web browser etc.)

  • The visitor’s general location (eg: London, United Kingdom)

  • Where the visitor clicked on the site and how long they stayed for.

In using Google Analytics, we are bound by Google Analytics Terms of Service. You can opt out of Google’s advertising tracking cookie or use a browser plugin to opt out of all Google Analytics tracking software.

Cookies

A cookie consists of information sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser.

Most browsers allow you to reject all cookies, whilst some browsers allow you to reject just third party cookies. For example, in Internet Explorer you can refuse all cookies by clicking “Tools”, “Internet Options”, “Privacy”, and selecting “Block all cookies” using the sliding selector. Blocking all cookies will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites, including this one.

Security of your personal information

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information.

Of course, data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure, and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet.

You are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. We will not ask you for your password (except when you log in to the website).

Your rights

In accordance with and as far as provided by applicable law, you have the right to access, rectification, and erasure of your personal data, the right to restriction of processing or to object to our data processing in addition to right to receive certain personal data for transfer to another controller (data portability). Please note, however, that we reserve the right to enforce statutory restrictions on our part, for example if we are obliged to retain or process certain data, have an overriding interest (insofar as we may invoke such interests) or need the data for asserting claims. If exercising certain rights will incur costs on you, we will notify you thereof in advance.

You have the right to object to the processing at any time for reasons arising out of your particular situation. Consent given to collect and process your data can be withdrawn at any time, but this does not affect data processed prior to withdrawal. We will then no longer process personal data, unless there are demonstrably compelling legitimate grounds for processing, which override the interests, rights and freedoms of the person concerned, or the processing serves the purpose of asserting, exercising or defending legal claims. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

In general, exercising these rights requires that you are able to prove your identity (e.g., by a copy of identification documents where your identity is not evident otherwise or can be verified in another way). In order to assert these rights, please contact us at info@dataclub.ch.

Retention periods for your personal data

We process and retain your personal data as long as required for your membership at TechClub and compliance with legal obligations or other purposes pursued with the processing. As soon as your personal data is no longer required, it will be deleted or anonymized, to the extent possible. In general, shorter retention periods of no more than twelve months apply for operational data (e.g., system logs).
